The Temple Owls and Alabama-Birmingham Blazers look for a win in the Charleston Classic.
Alabama-Birmingham suffered a crushing overtime loss to New Mexico in the opener of the Charleston Classic to fall in to the loser bracket. The Blazers showed no ill effects from the disappointment as they rebounded to smack around Nebraska 87-74 to advance to 5th place game. The Blazers don't have a problem putting the ball in the basket with a 56 point second second half erasing a three point deficit. UAB didn't miss much over the final 20 minutes and finished hitting at nearly 54% but it was a 24-12 edge at the line that that was just as big. Chad Frazier poured in game high 32 points and handed out seven helpers with Fahro Alihodzic tossing in 16 points followed by Rod Rucker with 13 points and ten rebounds while Jordan Swing and Robert Williams added eleven points each.

Temple bounced back from their lowest scoring game of the season to hand Georgia an 83-81 defeat and advance to face Alabama-Birmingham in the 5th place game of the Charleston Classic. The offensive minded Owls needed a three pointer from Will Cummings with seven ticks left to pull this one out and avoid a collapse that saw them blow a 13 point lead. Both teams sank around half of their looks with the biggest difference coming from beyond the ark where Temple held an 11-3 edge. Dalton Pepper led four double digit scorers with 22 points, six boards and five helpers with Cummings pumping in 17 while Quenton DeCosey and Daniel Dingle added 15 and 12 points respectively.
I think Alabama-Birmingham has played the better basketball between these two in the tournament. This seems like the type of game that Temple rises up and wins but I'm going with the Blazers and hoping the Owls win...
