Even though Drexel is just 3-2 in the early going they have played well even in defeat with both losses coming to ranked teams. The Dragons fell to UCLA to open the year befor dropping a 66-62 decision to Arizona in the NIT Season Tip-Off.Drexel led by nine heading in to the break before the Wildcats flexed some muscle to squeeze out the win. Both teams connected at around 37% with Drexel mustering 18 more looks thanks to 14 forced turnovers but Arizona's 23-5 edge at the line was decisive. Chris Fouch kept his team competitive with a game high 29 points with five yanks followed by Frantz Massenat with 17 points.
Alabama is also 3-2 with their wins coming by double digits with losses coming to Oklahoma and to Duke on Wednesday by a 74-64 count. The Crimson Tide dug themselves an eleven point hole at the half and were never able to dig themselves out. Bama struggled to 40% from the floor including a 2-12 mark from distance. The Blue Devils were held to 43% shooting but connected on six bombs and sank eight more free throws to secure the win. Nick Jacobs paced the offense with 18 points and six boards with Trevor Releford and Algie Key adding eleven points apiece while Rodney Cooper chipped in with seven points and grabbed a team best seven rebounds.
I think Drexel has played well in every game thus far versus some very good teams while Alabama showed they could play against a talented Duke. This comes down to backing a good team getting points although it''s dicey without Damion Lee...
