The Marquette Golden Eagles and the George Washington Colonials face off on Friday in college basketball action.
The Marquette Golden Eagles have two losses in the early going this season but they had a big win on Thursday beating Cal State Fullerton by 20. Marquette’s losses have come to Ohio State and Arizona State so they still need to prove they can beat the better teams. Davante Gardener is averaging 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles. Jamil Wilson is averaging 11.7 pointsand 5.3 rebounds, Todd Mayo is averaging 11.4 points, and Chris Otule is averaging 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds. Marquette is averaging 72.2 points and they are shooting 41.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 62.8 points and their opponents are shooting 39.4 percent. Marquette looks to be talented but with their schedule they are going to need to step it up.

The George Washington Colonials are unbeaten on the season and they kept their record unblemished by knocking off Miami on Thursday in overtime. GW led most of the way against the Hurricanes but they let it get away sending the game to OT. Maurice Creek leads the Colonials averaging 16.8 points. Isaiah Armwood is averaging 14.8 points and 9.0 rebounds, Kethan Savage is averaging 11.8 points, and Kevin Larsen is averaging 11 points and 5.8 rebounds. George Washington is averaging 85.8 points per game and they are shooting 52.1 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 64.4 points and their opponents are shooting 37.7 percent. George Washington has a tough schedule ahead when A-10 play begins.
Marquette is 3-7-1 against the spread in their last 11 games, 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five neutral site games, and 2-6-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record. George Washington is 5-2-2 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread, 2-8-1 against the spread in their last 11 games, and 1-5 against the spread against the Big East.
While Marquette has played the tougher schedule and GW blew the lead against Miami, I see George Washington winning this game outright but I will take the small number just in case.
