22nd-ranked Michigan looks to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss to Charlotte in their last outing when they meet Coppin State Friday.
The Wolverines not only lost the championship game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Sunday, they may have also lost two of their most valuable players to injury. Sophomore G Nik Stauskas, who leads the team in scoring at 20.3 ppg, left the game late with a sprained ankle and sophomore F Glenn Robinson III, who averages 13.4 ppg and 6 rpg, saw limited time after injuring his back. Stauskas was named the tournament MVP and scored a game-high 20 points against Charlotte on 46 percent from the field and grabbed 5 rebounds. The game came down to the final seconds with sophomore Michigan G Mitch McGary knotting the game at 61 with 9 seconds left and the 49ers pushing the ball up the floor and junior G Terrence Williams tipping in his own missed layup as time ran out. The Wolverines shot 31 percent from the field, 21 percent from distance and hit 18 of 24 from the line.

The Coppin State Eagles come in with a record of 2-2 and off a 96-79 victory over Ohio Valley . Sophomore G Sterling Smith scored a game-high 22 points on 58 percent from the field, connected on 2 of 4 from beyond the arc and made 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Junior G Taariq Cephas added 19 points on 75 percent from the field and made 2 of 2 from beyond the arc. The Eagles shot 51 percent from the floor, 33 percent from distance and connected on 27 of 41 free throw attempts. Smith leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.5 ppg on 58 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
The line in this one is currently at -21.5 for Michigan and that’s just too big a number with two of the Wolverines' biggest contributors out. If Stauskas and Robinson can’t go, the play is definitely the points and Coppin State.
