The Butler Bulldogs and the Oklahoma State Cowboys face off in Orlando in a winners bracket game in college basketball’s Old Spice Classic.
The Butler Bulldogs had to scrap for the win on Thursday against Washington State but in they end they did what they need to do winning by seven. Butler has been getting it done with solid defense but they are up against in this one against one of the highest scoring teams in the nation. Kellen Dunham is Butler’s leading scorer averaging 19 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Khyle Marshall is averaging 18.6 points and 7.2 rebounds, Kameron Woods is averaging 10.2 points and 9.2 rebounds, and Elijah Brown is averaging 7.0 points. Butler is averaging 75.8 points and they are shooting 45.7 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 65.8 points and their opponents shoot 45.8 percent. Butler is no longer a novelty act and most teams expect a handful when they play the bulldogs.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are looking like one of the best teams in the nation in the early going this season and the got another win on Thursday knocking off Purdue. OSU jumped out to an over 20-point lead and then held off the charging Boilermakers to preserve the victory. Marcus Smart leads the Cowboys averaging 22.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.5 steals per game. Markel Brown is averaging 19.3 points, Le’Bryan Nash is averaging 12.8 points and 6.7 rebounds, and Brian Williams is averaging 11.3 points and 4.7 rebounds. Oklahoma State is averaging 99.7 points and they are shooting 51.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 66.5 points and their opponents are shooting 38.3 percent from the floor. Oklahoma State appears to be a contender to win it all this season.
Butler is 36-14-1 against the spread in their last 51 neutral site games, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven Friday games, and 1-5-2 against the spread in their last eight games following a game that they didn’t cover the spread. Oklahoma State is 7-3 against the spread against the Big East, 9-4-1 against the spread in their last 14 non-conference game, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four neutral site games.
These are the games that play into Butler's whole David vs. Goliath thing that they have done so well for the past several years and while I don't know if they win, I do know they will make it exciting to watch.
