The LSU Tigers and the Butler Bulldogs face off on Sunday in Orlando in the third place game in the Old Spice Classic college basketball tournament.
The LSU Tigers have two losses so far this young season but with those losses being to Memphis and UMass there isn’t much to hang their head about. LSU is battle tested and talented and Johnny Jones’ team won’t see much in this one they haven’t seen already this year. Johnny O’ Bryant III is averaging 16 points and 10.5 rebounds to lead the Tigers. Andre Stringer is averaging 15.5 points, Jordan Mickey is averaging 13.8 points and 9.2 rebounds, and Anthony Hickey is averaging 11.8 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.8 steals. LSU is averaging 83.2 points and they are shooting 46.9 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 71.2 points and their opponents are shooting 41 percent. LSU has played the 57th ranked schedule in the country so far this season.

The Butler Bulldogs are 5-1 on the season and are coming off of their first loss of the year. Brandon Miller’s team battled back from a deficit against Oklahoma State but in the end they came up short. Butler moves to the Big East this season and with the move comes one of the toughest schedules in the country. Kellen Dunham is averaging 17.3 points per game to lead the Bulldogs. Khyle Marshall is averaging 16.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals, Kameron Woods is averaging 10.5 points and 9.2 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks. Butler is averaging 74.3 points and they are shooting 44.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 66.3 points and their opponents shoot 46.6 percent. Butler seems to always be a factor and to always be able to make games at the very least close and exciting and more often than not they walk away with a win.
LSU is 10-2 against the spread in their last 12 neutral site games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five non-SEC games, and 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 games. Butler is 7-2 against the spread against the SEC, 8-3 against the spread following a loss, and 2-5-2 against the spread following a game that they covered the spread.
I expect this one to be low scoring and I will give my free pick on the total when the number is released so please check back then. My pick on who will cover the spread in in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
