The Central Florida Knights travel down to Florida Atlantic to play the Owls on Tuesday night.
Central Florida dropped to 3-2 on the year after losing at Valparaiso 85-70 last week. The Knights had a big win over Miami a few days earlier and may have had a letdown game. UCF shot only 40.7% from the field and allowed Valpo to shoot over 54% from the field. The Knights came out flat, getting down by 13 points early on and were down by 8 at halftime and could not recover in the second half. On the year, UCF has done a great job rebounding the basketball, but they have not shot the ball consistently well early on. Senior G Calvin Newell is the best player on the team, averaging a team-high 18.2 points and 4 assists per game. Fellow senior G Isaiah Sykes is a close second to being the best player on the team, averaging 15 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per contest so far this season. The Knights have played some decent defense against a few opponents this season, but they gave up 80 to Florida State and 85 in their last game against Valparaiso. This will be the Knights third straight road game; Central Florida is 1-1 away from home so far this season.

Florida Atlantic dropped to 1-6 on the year after getting blown out by Toledo 95-74 last week. The FAU Owls have dropped 6 straight games since winning their season opener. The Owls are shooting below 40% from the field so far this season and have failed to score over 65 points in 4 games already. This is a team that is very inconsistent offensively and looks completely lost at times. The Owls do not do a great job distributing the basketball and have struggled on the defensive side of the floor as well. On the year, senior G Pablo Bertone leads the team in scoring, averaging 17 points per game while also averaging 2 assists per contest. Senior C Dragan Sekelja is averaging a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game for FAU. The Owls have only played 2 home games this season and are 1-1 on the year. They have had some much needed practice time over the past week and will try to get it together against the visiting Knights on Tuesday.
These two teams have split the last four meetings with UCF earning a win at FAU last year by 22 points. I don’t see anything being different from last year’s game come Tuesday night. UCF is just a flat out better all-around team right now and FAU is struggling to find chemistry on the floor. I think UCF wins this game by double-digits.
