The Notre Dame Fighting Irish enter this game at 5-1 for the season bouncing back from their upset loss against Indiana State with three wins. ND has played just the 350th ranked schedule in the country and this game should raise that number immediately. Jerian Grant leads the Irish averaging 19.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. Eric Atkins is averaging 14 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.2 steals, Garrick Sherman is averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds, and Pat Connaughton averages 11.3 points and 6.7 rebounds. Notre Dame is averaging 83.7 points and they are shooting 50.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 65 points and their opponents are shooting 41.4 percent. Notre Dame faces Indiana and Ohio State before opening their ACC schedule with Duke the first week of January.
Iowa is 5-0 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 36-15 against the spread in their last 51 home games, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Notre Dame is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games, 4-10 against the spread following a win, and 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six games.
This just seems like a lot of points as Notre Dame might not be the better team but the difference isn’t this large.
