Instate rivals collide when the New Mexico Lobos take the court with the New Mexico State Aggies.

New Mexico is always a threat to crack the top 25 and this season is no different with the team standing at 5-1. The Lobos did look surprisingly bad in their lone loss to Massachusetts and actually looked a little off in beating San Diego 73-66 last time out as a 15 point favorite. The Lobos squeezed out a slight edge in shooting 43%-40% and survived 13 more looks at the basket by the Torreros thanks to a near perfect 26-29 at the charity stripe. The offense was basically a three man crew with Kendall Williams pouring in 28 points and grabbing six boards while Alex Kirk added 21 points and eleven rebounds followed by a 16 point effort from Cameron Bairstow.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

After dropping the season opener to Western Michigan, New Mexico State responded with seven straight victories before falling to Colorado State 85-83. The Aggies have shown the ability to shoot the basketball and defend but this was all offense with the defensive end of the floor holding the Rams to 41% from the field but unable to contend with 13 more shots and a 21-13 deficit at the foul line. The NMSU offense shot the ball at over 51% which turned out to be 'only' competitive with 21 turnovers costing them opportunities. Daniel Mullings scored 24 points and handed out nine helpers with DK Eldridge right on his heels with 23 points followed by a 13 point, eight rebound performance from Sim Bhullar. This trio combined to go 22-36 from the field with the rest of the team going 8-22.

The spread has not been released as of yet and it won't be huge. If it's small I might go with the Lobos who have done well versus their instate rivals...

TBD-please check back when it's released
