The South Carolina Gamecocks head to Gallagher-Iba Arena to face Oklahoma State in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
South Carolina has had a quiet season thus far with only four games played to date. Aside from a narrow loss to Baylor things have been uneventful for Frank Martin in his first year at the helm. The Gamecocks evened their record at 2-2 with an 84-72 decision over Florida International in a game played back on 11/24. A 45-30 second half flurry erased a five point deficit behing nearly 51% shooting including an 8-19 mark on threes. The defense allowed 48% shooting but did force 16 Golden Panthers turnovers which turned in to nine more shot opportunities. Tyrone Johnson led the Gamecocks with 18 points followed by Jaylen Shaw and Brenton Williams with 16 points each while Demetrious Henry tossed in 14.

It will be interesting to see how Oklahoma State reacts from their first loss of the season to Memphis that dropped the Cowboys to 7-1. The handwriting might have been on the wall with OSU squeezing by Butler a few days earlier before falling to the Tigers 73-68 in which they led by ten at the half before the roof caved in. The boxscore was nearly even with both teams connecting at around 47% but Memphis mustered seven more attempts which translated in to three more field goals and the final score tells us how important that was. The Oklahoma State attack saw Phil Forte toss in a game high 19 points on 4-6 shooting with Marcus Smart next in line with 12 points and eight rebounds followed by a ten point, seven rebound performance from Markel Brown.
Oklahoma State is very good and far and away better then South Carolina but frankly the huge number takes away all my interest...
