Nebraska isn't a team that has been mentioned as a conference contender but the Huskers are trying to sway opinion with their 6-2 start. The Cornhuskers have shown the ability to both score and defend but to me it appears that managing the scoreboard might be in their best interest. They did just that in a 60-49 decision over Miami in the Big 10/ACC Challenge for their third consecutive victory. This one was all about defense with Nebraska hitting at 39% from the floor with the Hurricanes held to 32%. The deciding factor was a 17-10 margin at the charity stripe and little more. Terran Petteway led the Huskers with 14 points with Walter Pitchford adding 13 points and five pulls.

Creighton has come in to the season looking to impress in a new conference but back to back losses to San Diego State and George Washington dropped them out of the top 25. The Bluejays looked more like themselves in a 78-61 decision over Long Beach State with a 20 point lead at the break taking the mystery out of this one. The Jays edged out the 49ers 42%-38.5% in the shooting department with a 14-27 mark from long range deciding this one with struggling to 3-14. Doug McDermott led all scorers with 21 points followed by Ethan Wragge tossing in 15 while Will Artino and Isaiah Zierden netted 13 and 12 points respectively. Creighton did eventually empty the benches to keep the scoreboard from getting completely out of hand.
Creighton can sleep walk at times which makes big spreads difficult to cover. The Bluejays need to get back to being the bully if they hope to get back in the national rankings and they need to start now or they are just another good team...
