The Virginia Tech Hokies and Miami Hurricanes open up the conference schedule at the BankUnited Center.
Virginia Tech has a nice start under their belt but past year's have told us that wins are great as long as the strength of schedule is solid. The Hokies have had success but have been left out of the Big Dance because of a weak schedule so who knows what the future holds. VT logged their third straight win in an 81-63 rout of Winthrop behind torid 60% marksmanship. The Eagles hit at less then 40% which fell well short of what was needed as the Eagles were simply out gunned. Jarell Eddie poured in a game high 34 points with seven boards with CJ Barksdale tossing in 13 points and snagging six pulls followed by an eleven point, eight assist effort from Devin Wilson.

We know Miami lost a ton of talent from last season and we probably expected some inconsistent play because of that. That's how things have turned out as nothing has been very easy. It certainly wasn't easy in a 60-49 loss to Nebraska in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge with 13 first half points and 32% shooting setting the tone for the day. The Corhuskers didn't set the world on fire with 39% shooting but that was enough with a 17-10 edge at the charity stripe. Rion Brown was a lone wolf on offense with a game high 25 points with Davon Reed, Manu LLecomte and and Eric Swoope next in line with five points apiece. Nine players saw playing time and all scored but points were a valuable commodity.
I'd be lying if I said I knew what Miami was going to do because I don't. Having said that I'll back the points providing Virginia Tech is at full strength so check for injuries...
