The North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans visit the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in Saturday college basketball action.
North Carolina-Greensboro has proven to be a decent scoring team but judging from the numbers the points are needed with opponents scoring plenty as well. Both units did just enough in a 75-70 decision over Claflin. The Spartans had zero problem putting the ball in the basket at 52% but they did have trouble protecting the ball with 16 turnovers. That gave the 37% shooting Panthers a chance with 13 more looks at the basket and kept them competitive. Kayel Locke poured in a game high 25 points with six pulls on 10-17 from the floor followedby a 14 point effort from Nicholas Paulos while Tevon Saddler and Jordan Potts combined for 16 points.
Rutgers has been scoring the basketball but opponents have been scoring even more which has led to a four game slidewith each loss coming by six points or less. The Scarlet Knights gave visitimg Princeton a run for their money before falling 78-73. Both teams shot at 50% but Princeton put on an amazing display of long range accuracy with a 16-34 mark from beyond the arc which countered four more field goals by Rutgers. Myles Mack paced the Scarlet Knights attack with 21 points and five assists with Kadeem Jack adding 14 points and seven rebounds. Wally Judge and JJ Moore rounded out the top contributors with 19 points and six boards from Judge.
My first thought was go with Rutgers but the thought of the Scarlet Knights as big favorites is not appealing. The funny thing is North Carolina-Greensboro isn't appealing either so pick your poison...
