The Green Bay Phoenix travel to the DakotaDome to face the North Dakota Coyotes on Saturday.
A close look at Green Bay's record shows the offense has done well when winning but has struggled in defeats which was how things played out in a 67-58 loss at Eastern Michigan. I am not surprised they lost but the Phoenix appeared listless in the first half where they trailed 29-18 which was essentially the game. Eastern Michigan hit at 43% from the floor and won the battle at the line 28-17 while GB mustered just 35% marksmanship and turned the ball over 18 times. Alec Brown led the Phoenix attack with a game high 19 points and ten rebounds with Keifer Sykes adding 13 while Jordan Fouse tossed in eight points and snared another eight boards.

South Dakota has been in a number of close games but have come up short in several which explains their 3-6 record. Both ends of the floor have been up and down at times and it was the offense that was down in a 64-62 defeat at Kansas State. The offense actually shot the ball very well at 50% but hurt themselves with 18 giveaways. Kansas State only connected at 38.7% but the 17 offensive rebounds combined with the Coyotes miscues translated in to 18 more looks at the basket which saved the Wildcats. Trevor Gruis led all scorers with 18 points and nine rebounds on 7-8 from the floor with Adam Thoseby tossing in 16 points and snaring six pulls while Tyler Flack totaled eight points and five yanks.
I'm looking at Green Bay and thinking they need a solid road win but it won't be easy. My thoughts are the Phoenix are supposed to be the team to beat in the Horizon and need to show it...
