The Loyola Marymount Lions visit the Athletics-Recreation Center to take the court with the Valparaiso Crusaders.
Loyola Marymount has built a nice record but looking through the numbers the Lions will either need to tighten up defensively or do even more scoring especially with the big offenses in the WCC coming up. On the subject of offense Pitt had way too much in an 85-65 victory. The Panthers took an eleven point lead in to the hallf and were never challenged with 58% marksmanship. The Lions checked in with 38% shooting which couldn't compete with Pitt's accuracy and was the difference. Loyola Marymount received 20 points and five helpers from Anthony Ireland with Evan Payne adding 16 while Gabe Levin and Ben Dickinson tossed in 14 and ten points with Levin hauling in 14 rebounds.

I know Valparaiso has played eleven games but they have been good, bad and in between so figuring them out hasn't been easy. The Crusaders came up with a huge, albeit losing performance in a 67-65 loss to a solid St Louis club in which a rally from a nine point hole came up just short. In a defensive battle both teams connected in the 40% range with Valpo dominating the backboards 47-28 but also giving the ball away 17 times. LaVonte Dority paced the Valparaiso attack with 21 points with Bobby Campobianco metting 14 points and grabbing eight rebounds before fouling out in 27 minutes while Jordan Coleman and Alec Peters netted eight points apiece with the latter snagging six boards.
Both teams lost talent from a year ago which tells me they will both surprise and disappoint. Either could cover so I'd rather take my chances with the points...
