The Toledo Rockets put their unbeaten record on the line when they visit Arkansas State.
If people didn't believe that Toledo was a challenger in the MAC West before the season began they might be changing their tune with the Rockets building a nice 10-0 record. The offense has definitely been leading the way although the defense got in on the act also in a 77-61 rout of Sam Houston State. A 49-31 second half explosion broke open a tight contest behind 50% shooting and a defense that held the Bearkats to 35.6% which was the difference in the game. Justin Drummond tossed in a game high 18 points followed by JD Weatherspoon and his 16 points with Jonathan Williams adding 15 and Rian Pearson 12 points.

Arkansas State was building some momentum with a three game winning streak but that came to an end in 79-67 loss at Nebraska. This game was lost with a flat first half performance that saw the Red Wolves trail 50-27 before a late rally fell short. This was a sloppy affair with both teams combining for 37 turnovers in an other wise even boxscore except for the shooting department whe Nebraska led 48%-43%. That translated in to five more makes from the field which was the difference in the game. Kirk Van Slyke paced the Red Woves scoring with a game high 27 points and seven rebounds with Melvin Johnson III netting 18 points and snaring another six boards while Edward Townsel and Kendrick Washington combined for 15 points.
The numbers say Toledo but I think this is a tough spot for them. Arkansas State isn't terrible and the Rockets schedule is poor. My stats point to the visitors and my gut says Arkansas State so nothing on this for me...
