The Miami (OH) Redhawks look to stay on the winning track when they meet the UMKC Kangaroos Wednesday night.
Miami is 2-5 and winners in two of their last three after opening the season with four straight losses. The Red Hawks edged past Wright State 59-56 in their last outing Sunday behind a game-sealing flurry in the closing minutes from senior F Will Felder, who scored four of the game’s last 5 points to lead the Red Hawks to the victory. Felder finished with 12 points on 4 of 9 shooting and snagged a game-high 9 rebounds, while sophomore G Geovonie McKnight led all scorers with 16 points on 4 of 9 from the field and added 5 steals. Miami led 34-29 at the half and the two sides went back and forth in the second, trading leads four different times until Miami went up for good with 33 seconds left when Felder hit two free throws. Through 7 games, the Red Hawks are averaging 64 ppg on 40 percent shooting and Felder leads the team in scoring with 13.6 ppg on 45 percent from the field.

UMKC, meanwhile, comes in with a record of 2-7 and reeling after dropping 4 of its last 5, including a 74-63 loss to Indiana State Saturday. The Kangaroos struggled from the field, shooting 20 of 57 and connected on just 3 of 19 from beyond the arc. Freshman G Martez Harrison was the high man with 20 points on 5 of 16 shooting and senior F Trinity Hall added 16 points and 7 rebounds. UMKC battled back from 9 down in the first half to take a 36-34 lead at the half, but fell behind by as many as 17 points in the second half and were unable to close the gap. On the season, the Kangaroos are averaging 71 ppg on 43 percent shooting and Harrison leads the team with 17.4 ppg on 44 percent from the floor.
