The Southern Methodist Mustangs head to Arena-Auditorium to match up with the Wyoming Cowboys.
Southern Methodist is obviously off to a great start with plenty of scoring and defense leading the way. Both were at the top of their game in an 82-56 romp over Texas-Pan American for victory number four in a row. The Mustangs didn't miss much at 56.6% including 7-15 from long range while the defense stymied the Broncs attack with 32% from the floor given up. Marcus Kennedy led a trio of double digit scorers with 17 points and seven boards followed by a 14 point effort from Ryan Manuel while Nic Moore chipped in with ten points and six helpers. Five others added between 5-7 points as SMU emptied the bench.

I'm not sure where the season goes from here as far as Wyoming is concerned but it's hard to argue with their record. The Cowboys have generally gotten both ends of the floor on the same page but in my view this team needs a signature win. The Pokes came close to taking down Denver who has begun to play well but fell 64-61 on the road with a come back from a nine point deficit at the half coming up short. The Pioneers sank shots at a 52% pace with the Cowboys checking in at 44% but the visitors managed to stay close with a 16-10 advantage at the stripe. Larry Nance Jr. was a one man wrecking crew with 38 points and 12 rebounds with Nathan Sobey chipping in with nine points before fouling out in 30 minutes.
Not really much of an angle here but if Wyoming is to win they need another big performance from Nance or this will be an SMU win...
