The Braves stormed out to a 4-0 record to start the season with wins over not-so-competitive teams. That didn’t prepare them for what they would face over the next 6 games as their true colors came out…which is the fact that Bradley can be beaten by playing zone defense. They are one of the worst three point shooting teams in the conference and for that matter in D-I basketball, at 26%. Under the Geno Ford era (his 3rd season), the team is not known for a high assist total. And that makes it hard to get easier baskets.
The Pacific Tigers were off to a roaring start before the Vegas trip. They have 5 guys that shoot well, spearheaded by leading scorer, sophomore Andrew Bock (transfer from Creighton). They bring balance to the stat sheet nearly every game. Four of them score between 11 and 13 points per game and more scoring punch can be found further down the roster. They have a nice win at Utah State under their belts, but lost to a superb Oregon team. Pacific will be a tough team in the already tough West Coast Conference. They are much deeper than the Braves and this should give them the edge, especially in back-to-back games.
The better shooting team and fresher team is Pacific. Bradley will try to stay close, but I don’t see them keeping up with their up-tempo style and they have a number of weapons that the Braves lack. Geno Ford's Braves are in a serious funk now.
