The Auburn Tigers and the Boston College Eagles face off on Sunday in college basketball action.
The Auburn Tigers are off to a 5-3 start and they are coming off of a win over Clemson. Auburn has played the 233rd ranked schedule in the nation and despite the record they look improved over what we saw from them a year ago. Chris Denson leads the Tigers averaging 19.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. K.T. Harrell is averaging 17.9 points, Tahj Shamsid-Deen is averaging 8.6 points, and Asauhn Dixon-Tatum is averaging 6.6 points and 6.4 rebounds. Auburn is averaging 74.6 points and they are shooting 44 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 75.4 points and their opponents are shooting 46.3 percent. Auburn starts SEC play on January 9th against Ole Miss.

The Boston College Eagles are 4-7 for the season but they might be the best under .500 team in the nation. BC is 0-3 on the road this year and they have played the 11th ranked schedule in the nation. Olivier Hanlan is averaging 19.4 points to lead the Eagles. Ryan Anderson is averaging 16.9 points and 7.2 rebounds, Joe Rahon is averaging 10.6 points, and Alex Dragicevich is averaging 6.4 points. Boston College is averaging 75.9 points and they are shooting 46 percent while defensively they are allowing 78.5 points and their opponents shoot 47 percent. Boston College continues the rough schedule next time out facing VCU.
Auburn is 5-1 against the spread against the ACC, 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 home games, and 1-7 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Boston College is 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games, 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games, and 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
Boston College has played all comers but they haven’t made it work for them so I don’t see how they are favored on the road.
