The Line: UNLV Rebels -10 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The UNLV Rebels and the Santa Clara Broncos face off on Sunday in Las Vegas in college basketball action.
The UNLV Rebels have won four of their last five games but it is apparent that this year is a step back. UNLV lost their stars from last year’s team and none of their wins have come against a team with a RPI better than 150. Roscoe Smith is averaging 12.6 points and 13.8 rebounds per game to lead the Rebels. Bryce Dejean-Jones is averaging 12.1 points, Khem Birch is averaging 11.6 points and 9.6 rebounds, and Kevin Olekaibe is averaging 10.3 points. UNLV is averaging 72.3 points and they are shooting 44.4 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 63.2 point and their opponents are shooting 38.6 percent. This is still considered a neutral site game for UNLV as it is in Las Vegas but it is at The Orleans, not at their home court at Thomas and Mack.
The Santa Clara Broncos have won four of their last five games but they are 0-1 in neutral site games and 1-3 on the road this season. Santa Clara has played the 310th ranked schedule and all of their wins have come against teams with a RPI worse than 200. Brandon Clark is averaging 16.4 points per game to lead the Broncos. Jared Brownridge is averaging 14.5 points, Evan Roquemore is averaging 12 points, and Jerry Brown Jr. is averaging 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds. UCSB is averaging 74.6 points and they are shooting 44.3 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 66.7 point and their opponents are shooting 43.7 percent. Santa Clara opens WCC conference play on December 28th against Gonzaga.
Santa Clara is 0-5-1 against the spread in their last six games, 0-4 against the spread following a win, and 4-1-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record. UNLV is 5-0-1 against the spread in their last six games, 3-7 against the spread against the WCC, and 11-24 against the spread following a win.
I am not going to go anywhere near this one but my pick is just a lean to Santa Clara with the points.
