The undefeated Toledo Rockets invade Allen Fieldhouse as they face off against the 16th ranked Kansas Jayhawks Monday evening at 8PM.
Toledo sits at 12-0 this season and is looming just outside the top 25 after their hot start. The Rockets have not played a very tough schedule out of the gate, but have been rock solid on the offensive end and rank 10th in the country in ppg at 86.3. Toledo got their 12th win of the year with a 85-66 route of Coppin State this past week. Rian Pearson paced the Rockets in this one as he scored 22 points and helped Toledo storm out to a 20 point halftime lead. Julius Brown added 18 and 7 assists at the point guard slot as the Rockets racked up 19 assists to just 11 turnovers. Toledo also finished the game with a dominant, +22 edge on the glass. The Rockets hope to prove their recent attention is warranted as they visit Lawrence with the upset on their minds.

Kansas enjoyed a 9 day break after making easy work of a solid Georgetown team last weekend 86-64. The Jayhawks traded baskets with the Hoyas early on in this contest before embaraking on a run mid way through the first half that resulted in a 10 point lead at the break. Kansas was led by Joel Embiid’s 17 points and 8 boards and Tarik Black scored 17 off the bench as well. Andrew Wiggins scored 12 points and added 3 steals for Kansas. The Jayhawks shot 54% from the floor and drew an eye popping 32 fouls on Georgetown -- resulting in 31 points at the line and preventing Georgetown from ever getting into a rhythm in the 2nd half.
Some trends to consider -- Toledo is 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 non-conference contests and Kansas is 5-0 against the spread in their last 5 game against the MAC.
Toledo has been one of the surprises of this early season -- the Rockets are talented, experienced and can score it with anyone in the country. This one has all the makings of a shootout that Kansas gets the best of given their depth and athleticism. Look for the Rockets to hang around for about 25-30 minutes in this one before Wiggins and company take control and push Kansas to the cover at home.
