The Nevada Wolf Pack kicks off conference play with the San Jose State Spartans at Event Center Arena.
Nevada had struggled to keep their head above water in the non conference schedule at 5-8 as the defense hasn't been able to support some decent scoring. The Wolf Pack might have let one get away in an 80-77 overtime loss to visiting in which the defense held the 49ers to 39% shooting. The Wolp Pack did not capitalize with 41% marksmanship and 19 giveaways that led to 20 more looks for the visitors. Jerry Evans Jr paced the scoring with 21 points and eleven rebounds with Deonte Burton adding 19 points, seven pulls and five yanks followed by Cole Huff and Michael Perez with 16 and eleven points with a combined 12 pulls.

San Jose State had a rough start to the new season but have been playing well the last several weeks. The Spartans have won four in a row but before we get too excited the past two came against sub division squads. Pacifica College proved to be no match in an 87-59 rout where SJSU connected at 47% from the field while the Gladiators were an ice cold 28%. That translated in to 13 more San Jose State field goals in a wire to wire victory. Rashad Muhammed led four double digit scorers with 19 points and seven yanks with Jaleel Williams tossing in 14 points and hauling in ten rebounds followed Chris Cunningham and Devante Wilson with 13 points apiece while Matt Pollard chipped in with another ten points.
Nevada has played a little tougher schedule but their defense is simply awful. Some games are best left alone and this could be one unless you like sitting on pins and needles...
