The Arizona State Sun Devils and the Washington Huskies face off on Thursday as they open their Pac-12 college basketball schedules.
The Arizona State Sun Devils have won their last four games and they enter their Pac-12 portion of their schedule at 11-2. ASU has played the 212th ranked schedule in the country and are 8-0 at home this season. Jahii Carson leads the Sun Devils averaging 19.3 points and 5.4 assists per game. Jermaine Marshall is averaging 15.5 points, Jordan Bachynski is averaging 12.5 points and 9.8 rebounds, and Jonathan Gilling and Shaquielle McKissic are averaging 7.5 points per game. Arizona State is averaging 79.3 points and they are shooting 48.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 63.8 points and their opponents are shooting 38.6 percent. Arizona State’s schedule gets increasingly more difficult as the season goes on.

The Washington Huskies have won four of their last five games but they have struggled against the better teams. UW is 1-1 on the road this season and they are 0-4 against teams with a RPI better than 100. C.J. Wilcox is averaging 20.5 points and 4.2 rebounds to lead the Huskies. Andrew Andrews is averaging 13.1 points and 4.3 rebounds, Nigel Williams-Goss is averaging 12.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, and Perris Blackwell is averaging 12 points and 7.3 rebounds. Washington is averaging 80.6 points and they are shooting 45 percent while defensively they are allowing 79.2 points and their opponents are shooting 49.6 percent. Washington looks to be rebuilding this season and they are going to need to be on top of their game to compete against Pac-12 competition.
Arizona State is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games, and 5-2-1 against the spread in their last eight Thursday games. Washington is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games, 2-5 against the spread following a win, and 1-5 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread. The road team has covered the point spread in 16 of the last 22 meetings of these two.
I see ASU’s record as slightly over blown and while I don’t like the way Washington is playing this year this is too many points for this game.
