The Colorado Buffaloes and the Oregon State Beavers face off on Thursday as they begin their Pac-12 college basketball schedules.
The Colorado Buffaloes have proven already this year that they can go toe to toe with the best teams in the nation and they are going to be a force this season. CU is ranked 20th in the nation playing the 14th ranked schedule in the nation and going 9-0 at home thus far. Spencer Dinwiddie is averaging 15.8 points per game to lead the Buffaloes. Josh Scott is averaging 13.1 points and 9.2 rebounds, Askia Booker is averaging 12.6 points, and Xavier Johnson is averaging 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds. Colorado is averaging 77.5 points and they are shooting 45.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 66.7 points and their opponents are shooting 42.5 percent. Colorado’s schedule becomes the fifth toughest in the nation before the season is done.

The Oregon State Beavers are 8-4 thus far this season and have won three of their last five games. OSU has played the 272nd ranked schedule and they are 1-2 on the road this season. Roberto Nelson leads the beavers averaging 21.2 points. Devon Collier is averaging 18 points and 8.0 rebounds, Angus Brandt is averaging 12.9 points and 4.6 rebounds, and Challe Barton is averaging 5.7 points. Oregon State is averaging 79.4 points and they are shooting 50.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 74 points and their opponents are shooting 42.6 percent. Oregon State hasn’t played a team with a RPI better than 100 this season.
Colorado is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, and 1-3-1 against the spread against the Pac-12. Oregon State is 6-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight road games, and 3-10-1 against the spread following a win. The home team is 5-2-1 against the spread in the last right meetings of these two.
Colorado is a big favorite here but being at home and with Oregon State’s lack of defense I can see this one getting out of hand.
