The South Alabama Jaguars and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers face off on Thursday as they open their Sun Belt conference schedules.
The South Alabama Jaguars have lost four of their last five games and they are a game under .500 as they head into Sun Belt play. USA has played the 50th ranked schedule in the country and it should get a little easier in the coming weeks. Augustine Rubit leads the Jaguars averaging 17.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Antoine Allen is averaging 10.3 points, Mychal Ammons is averaging 10.1 points and 7.5 rebounds, and Ken Williams is averaging 7.9 points per game. South Alabama is averaging 72.5 points and they are shooting 40.4 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 69.1 points and their opponents are shooting 42.6 percent. South Alabama is 6-1 at home thus far this season.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers have played fairly solid this season but they are coming off of a loss the Ole Miss. WKU has played the 178th ranked schedule in the country and it appears it will get a little easier as they get into Sun Belt play. T.J. Price leads the Hilltoppers averaging 17.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. George Fant is averaging 14.1 points and 6.6 rebounds, Caden Dickerson is averaging 4.5 points, and Aaron Adeoye is averaging 4.7 points. Western Kentucky is averaging 68.3 points and they are shooting 41.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 65.6 points and their opponents are shooting 43.8 percent. WKU as had two shots at ranked teams losing to Wichita State and Louisville.
South Alabama is 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, 5-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. Western Kentucky is 5-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 6-2 against the spread against the Sun Belt, and 5-0 against the spread following a loss. The favorite is 9-1-1 against the spread in the last 11 meetings of these two.
Western Kentucky is the better team so getting points here is just a bonus.
