The Green Bay Phoenix welcome the Cleveland State Vikings to the Resch Center in the Horizon opener.
Cleveland State has looked better then a season ago and most of the credit goes to an offense that is averaging almost 77 points. The defense could use a little help but the Vikings got just enough from this unit to down Kent State 78-70 on the road. CSU fired away at 54% and held the Golden Flashes to 41% from the floor which was enough to get the win. Bryn Forbes and Sebastian Douglas led the offense with 14 points each with the latter grabbing seven boards while Anton Grady and Trey Lewis scored 12 apiece followed by a ten point effort from Marlin Mason.

Green Bay is one of the favorites in the conference and have done nothing to change that view point with six in their last seven. The Phoenix took care of sub division St Francis (IL) 91-41 in what amounted to a tune up for the beginning of the Horizon slate. This was over at the opening tip with GB nailing shots at nearly 57% while limiting the Fighting Saints to under 28% from the floor. That equated to 18 more field goals which was obviously decisive. Vincent Garrett tossed in a game high 20 points and hauled in nine rebounds with 17 points and eight helpers coming from Keifer Sykes followed by Alec Brown and Carrington Love with 13 points apiecewith Brown snagging seven boards and blocking six shots.
Green Bay has been a solid home team and Anton Grady is questionable for Cleveland State so it would be wise to check injuries before betting because a healthy Grady is good enough to make this close...
