The Florida Gators and the Richmond Spiders face off on Saturday in college basketball action.
The Florida Gators have won four games in a row but they haven’t been very active of late playing just two games since December 21st. UF is ranked 12th in the nation and both of their losses have come on the road to teams ranked in the top 25. Casey Prather leads the Gators averaging 17.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Scottie Wilbekin is averaging 12 points, Michael Frazier II is averaging 11.4 points, Dorian Finney-Smith is averaging 10.6 points and 7.2 rebounds, and Patric Young is averaging 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds. Florida is averaging 72.1 points and their opponents are shooting 46 percent while defensively they are allowing 58.8 points per game with their opponents shooting 39.3 percent. Florida looks like they are going to be a contender once again this season.
The Richmond Spiders have won three of their last four games but they enter this game at 10-4 overall. This is the second of four consecutive road games for Richmond and they are 3-1 on the road so far this season. Cedrick Lindsay is averaging 18.6 points and 4.6 assists per game to lead the Spiders. Kendall Anthony is averaging 13 points, Terry Allen is averaging 9.2 points and 5.9 rebounds, and Alonzo Nelson-Ododa is averaging 7.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Richmond is averaging 69.9 points per game and they are shooting 44.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 63.4 points and their opponents are shooting 39.4 percent. Richmond is 0-1 against teams ranked in the top 25 and 1-4 against teams with a RPI better than 100.
Florida is 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five home games, 3-8-1 against the spread following a win, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven home games against a team with a winning road record. Richmond is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 7-17-2 against the spread in their last 26 non-conference games, and 1-3-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread.
Florida is strong at home but this is a lot of points as Richmond should leave nothing on the court and I am going to take the points in what is just a lean.
