The Virginia Cavaliers travel to Florida State to play the Seminoles on Saturday.
Virginia dropped to 9-4 on the year after losing at Tennessee 87-52 on Monday. The Cavaliers shot only 32.7% from the field and a miserable 16.7% from the three-point line. Justin Anderson led Virginia with 11 points, and Mike Tobey added 10. On the year, Joe Harris averages a team-high 11.1 points per game. Akil Mitchell is averaging 6.1 points per game and a team-high 5.5 rebounds per contest. Virginia has struggled on offense, averaging 64.8 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field as a team. The Cavaliers are a decent rebounding team and a poor team when it comes to distributing the basketball. Virginia is a great defensive team despite giving up 87 points to Tennessee earlier this week. This will be the Cavaliers third road game of the year having lost their first two.

The Florida State Seminoles improved to 9-3 on the season after beating CHSO 67-59 on Monday. The Seminoles shot 46.4% from the field, but only 22.2% from behind the arc. Aaron Thomas scored 19 points and Ian Miller added 15 in the win. Okaro White scored only 2 points before fouling out with almost 9 minutes left in the game. On the year, Miller averages a team-high 14 points and 3.5 assists per contest. Thomas averages a second-best 12.9 points, while White averages a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game. The Seminoles are averaging 77 points per game and are shooting 48.7% from the field. Florida State is a good rebounding team and a great defensive team, especially at home. The Seminoles only losses have come against solid competition in Michigan, Florida, and Minnesota.
Florida State has won eight out of the last nine games against Virginia, including a 2 point win at Virginia last season. Virginia looked awful against Tennessee earlier this week, but I expect the Cavaliers to play better on Saturday. Meanwhile, Florida State has won four straight games after losing to two solid teams in Florida and Minnesota. The Seminoles are a strong team at home and I think they get the win, but Virginia will keep it close and cover the spread.
