The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets travel to Maryland to play the Terps on Saturday.
Georgia Tech improved to 9-4 on the year after beating Charlotte 58-55 last week. Georgia Tech shot 45.1% from the field and only 23.5% from the three-point line. Trae Golden scored a game-high 24 points, including the game-winning three-pointer with 4 seconds left in the contest. Marcus Georges-Hunt added 10 points, while Robert Carter Jr. had 8 points, 2 steals, and 2 blocks for the Yellow Jackets. On the year, Golden leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.2 points per game. Golden also leads the team with 3.5 assists per game. Georges-Hunt is averaging a second-best 11.8 points per game, while Carter Jr. is averaging a team-high 9.3 rebounds per game. Carter will undergo surgery to repair his left knee and will be out indefinitely. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 72 points per game and are shooting 44.3% from the field this year. Georgia Tech is a good rebounding team, pulling down over 40 boards per game. This will be Georgia Tech’s fourth road game of the season and their third in a row; the Yellow Jackets are 2-1 on the road.

The Maryland Terps improved to 9-5 on the year after beating North Carolina Central 70-56 on Tuesday. Maryland shot 44.9% from the field and 42% from long distance, along with an 81% mark from the charity stripe. Nick Faust equaled his career high with 19 points and had a season-high 9 rebounds. Dez Wells added 10 points for the Terps, who finished nonconference play with a win. On the year, Wells averages a team-high 15.3 points per game, while Jake Layman averages 14.2 points per game. The Terps average 74.4 points per game and are shooting 45% from the field. Maryland is not a great passing team, averaging only 12 assists per game as a team. The Terps do rebound the ball well, averaging almost 40 rebounds per game this season. The Terps have lost two games at home this season to Oregon State and Boston University.
These two teams have split the last six games with Georgia Tech winning last year by 10 at Maryland. Georgia Tech has lost one of their key players in Robert Carter Jr. and I think that will hurt them in this matchup. Maryland has not played great for most of the year and I don't think they should be favored by this much even at home. Maryland wins the game, but Georgia Tech covers the spread.
