The Missouri Tigers and the Long Beach State 49ers face off on Saturday in college basketball action.
The Missouri Tigers are ranked 25th in the nation and have lost just once this season. Mizzou has played the 89th ranked schedule in the nation going 7-0 at home and with their one loss coming at a neutral site. Jordan Clarkson leads the Tigers averaging 20 points per game. Jabari Brown is averaging 18.1 points and 5.4 rebounds, Earnest Ross is averaging 13.8 points and 6.4 rebounds, and Johnathan Williams III is averaging 6.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Missouri is averaging 76.8 points and they are shooting 48.6 percent while defensively they allow 65.6 points and their opponents are shooting 38.6 percent. Missouri continues to get it done despite a deficiency in the Head Coaching spot which came into clear focus when the Tigers were bounced from the NCAA Tournament last season in the first round.

The Long Beach State 49ers have struggled this season with an absolutely brutal schedule but they have won three in a row. LBSU has played the number three ranked schedule in the nation which will get increasing less difficult when they begin Big West play. Tyler Lamb is back on the court and he is averaging 22 points per game but this will be just his fourth game of the year. Michael Caffey is averaging 17.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists, Dan Jennings is averaging 11.6 points and 8.4 rebounds, and A.J. Spencer is averaging 9.3 points per game. Long Beach State is averaging 67.3 points per game and they are shooting 40 percent while defensively they are allowing 74.9 points and their opponents are shooting 44.7 percent. Dan Monson built the Gonzaga program from the ground up and he has his work cut out for him to do the same at Long Beach State.
Missouri is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games, 9-3 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 5-12 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. Long Beach State is 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games, 4-12-1 against the spread in their last 17 non-conference games, and 1-5 against the spread following a win.
Long Beach State has been improving and I like them to at least cover here against the poorly cloached Tigers.
