The Creighton Bluejays look to build on a solid conference introduction with a road trip to face the Seton Hall Pirates Saturday at 3PM on Fox Sports 1.
Creighton was really hitting on all cylinders in their conference opener this past week as they Bluejays blew a rock solid Marquette team out of the gym 67-49. Creighton was not surprisingly paced by the stellar play of all-american Doug McDermott. McDermott scored 19 points and added 7 boards and the Bluejays used a first half run to take a 13 point halftime lead and never look back. Jahenns Manigat added 16 for Creighton and the Bluejays racked up 19 team assists as they continue to be one of the top teams in the country from a facilitation standpoint.

Seton Hall opened conference play with a thrilling win over Providence in two OT’s 81-80. The two teams split the first extra session before the Pirates Sterling Gibbs sunk two free throws in the second OT to steal the win. Gibbs finished with 15 points in 43 minutes of play and Brian Oliver led the way with 18 for Seton Hall. The Pirates were understandably outrebounded by Providence via the absence of Gene Teague but made up for it by shooting the ball well from the field and a rock solid 82.6% from the line. The win marks a nice start for the Hall as they feature a few home games to get Big East play going.
Seton Hall was rock solid against Providence but I don’t think they are built to handle a solid, fundamental team like Creighton. I like the Bluejays to take control of this one from the tip behind their veteran leadership and the play of Doug McDermott. The Bluejays shoot it well and dominate in the team assists category for the road win in Newark. Check back for the line.
