The Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Purdue Boilermakers both look for their first Big Ten conference win of the season as they face off on Sunday.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers battled Michigan for a full 40 minutes in their Big 10 opener but in the end they came up short and were handed a loss. Minnesota has played the 56th ranked schedule in the nation and they are 9-1 at home this season. Andre Hollins is averaging 12.6 points and 4.1 rebounds to lead the Gophers. Austin Hollins is averaging 12.6 points and 6.9 rebounds, Deandre Mathieu is averaging 11.4 points and 4.7 assists, and Malik Smith is averaging 9.9 points. Purdue can pound the offensive boards and they play solid defense.
Minnesota is 1-4 against the spread following a loss, 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four home games, and 0-4 against the spread against the Big Ten. Purdue is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games, and 6-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread. The underdog has covered the spread in five of their last six meetings of these two.
