The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders take the hardwood at the Tennessee State Tigers.
After watching Middle Tennessee State dominate the Sun Belt the past few years I can say with certainty that their first year in the CUSA won't be as easy. The Blue Raiders can still score and defend but the step up in competition is significant. MTSU halted a two game skid with an easy 79-56 victory over Grand Canyon with an 18 point lead at the break ending this one. The visitors won the shooting battle 48%-31% and totaled 22 more attempts to win going away. Shawn Jones paced the offense with an 18 point, nine pull effort with the duo of Reggie Upshaw Jr and Neiko Hunter tossing in 12 points followed by Kerry Hammonds with eleven points.

Tennessee State might not have won the Ohio Valley the past few years but they were a solid club. Graduation has the Tigers in a rebuilding mode and that has shown in their 2-14 record with their second win coming in a 70-65 decision over Jacksonville State last time out. There wasn't much difference in shooting with both teams sinking shots in the 43%-45% range with TSU hitting a few more threes and free throws to win it. Patrick Miller carried the Tigers offensively with 19 points and five pulls on 5-18 shooting with Jacquan Nobles adding eleven points and five yanks while four players mustered eight points apiece in a very balanced attack.
This line is fishy because Middle Tennessee has most of their team back and Tennessee State lost most of their team. I'm down on the Blue Raiders because of their poor performance under pressure so if we see another poor effort don't be surprised...
