The Syracuse Orange travel to Virginia Tech to play the Hokies on Tuesday night.
The Syracuse Orange improved to 14-0 after beating Miami 49-44 on Saturday. The Orange shot only 36.2% from the field and 20% from the behind the arc. C.J. Fair scored a team-high 15 points, while Rakeem Christmas scored 8 points and grabbed a team-high 7 rebounds. On the year, Fair averages a team-high 17.2 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per contest. Trevor Cooney averages a second-best 14.1 points per game, while Grant averages a team-high 5.8 rebounds. Syracuse averages 74.2 points per game and is shooting 46.7% from the field as a team this season. The Orange are not the best rebounding team and they do a decent job of distributing the basketball on the offensive end of the floor. This will be Syracuse’s second true road game, having beat St. John’s by 5 in their first trip away from home.

The Virginia Tech Hokies improved to 8-5 on the year after beating UMES 82-66 last week. The Hokies shot 46.4% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range. Jarell Eddie scored 13 of his 17 points in the first half, while Devin Wilson added 16 points for the Hokies. The Hokies played without guard Adam Smith, who they are trying to get healthy from a nagging left calf strain, perhaps in time for Tuesday night’s game. On the year, Eddie averages a team-high 17.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Smith is averaging a second-best 13.1 points per game and 2.7 assists. The Hokies are averaging 74 points per game and are shooting 44.2% from the field as a team this year. Virginia Tech has good size down low and is good rebounding team this season. The Hokies bounced back against UMES after losing two straight to VCU and UNCG. Virginia Tech has lost two games at home already this season.
Syracuse has won all four meetings with the Hokies dating back to 2000. The Orange did not play great against Miami this past weekend but they managed to come away with the win. Meanwhile, the Hokies have been inconsistent all year and will be overmatched in this one.
