The #23 Massachusetts Minutemen host the Saint Joseph's Hawks in an A-10 tilt on Wednesday.
Saint Joseph's has been playing well with five consecutive victories and the hot streak was perfect timing with the start of conference play. The high scoring Hawks needed a big effort from the defensive end of the floor to hold off visiting Denver 53-52 with the Pioneers winning the shooting battle 44%-37.5%. The Hawks squeezed out five more attempts and held a 13-7 advantage at the stripe but almost gave this away with ten misses. That was still the difference with Langston Galloway leading the offense with 14 points and seven pulls with DeAndre Bembry adding 13 points and another six yanks while Ronald Roberts and Chris Wilson tossing in nine points each with Roberts hauling down 15 rebounds.

Massachusetts and their high powered, up tempo offense have paved the way to a 12-1 record and a top 25 ranking. The Minutemen picked up consecutive victories in a surprisingly tight 73-65 decision over Miami (Ohio) behind 51% marksmanship. The pesky Redhawks did not go away with 48% shooting of their own while forging 13 more looks to stay competitive. At the final buzzer the UMass offense prevailed with four double digit scorers leading the way. Chaz Williams was the top gun with 18 points and eight assists with Maxie Esho tossing in 15 points and snagging seven boards followed Cady Lalanne and Trey Davis with 12 and eleven points with Lalanne posting another six yanks.
Massachusetts is the best team in the A-10 while Saint Joseph's is no chump team. If the Minutemen are at their best the Hawks are in big trouble but St Joes might be playing a bit better of the two. This match up is usually much closer then the current spread so I'm looking at the points yet still worried...
