The #8 Villanova Wildcats travel to Newark to square off against the Seton Hall Pirates in Big East hoops action Wednesday night at 7PM on CBS Sports network.
Villanova moved to a rock solid 13-1 this past weekend as they destroyed visiting Providence 91-61. The Friars have a solid team but were completely outclassed by Villanova from the jump. The Wildcats got solid contributions across the board in this one with Jayvaughn Pinkston making it two games in a row with a solid scoring output -- the swingman scored 19 in this one and added 7 boards. Darrun Hillard was the Cats second leading scorer with 15 and eight other players got in the scoring column as well. The Wildcats were 50% or better from the field and three point land for the game but continued to struggle at the free throw line, going just 9-16 for the game.

Seton Hall moved to 1-1 in the conference and 10-5 overall with a home loss to upstart Creighton this past weekend 79-66. The Pirates struggled from the jump and quickly found themselves down double digits with over five minutes left in the first half. The Pirates missed the presence of Gene Teague down low and had no answer for all-american swingman Doug McDermott who torched the Pirates for 30 and 10. Sterling Gibbs 17 points led all Hall scorers, but the combo guard only notched two assists and the Pirates finished the game with just 7 total assists. The Pirates now rank 203rd in the nation in team assists.
Some trends to consider -- Villanova is 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 overall and Seton Hall is 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 overall.
Seton Hall has some talent but has struggled mightily down low since Teague’s injury and given he will likely miss this contest as well, the Nova guards should be able to get in the lane with ease. I like Bell and Pinkston to be way too much for the Pirates to handle for 40 minutes and the Wildcats to open this one up about mid way through the second half and cruise to the double digit win and cover.
