The UNLV Rebels host the Nevada Wolf Pack at the Thomas & Mack Center on Thursday.
Nevada has certainly lit up the scoreboard but the problem is opponents have done just as much scoreboard lighting which explains the 7-8 record. Having said that the Wolf Pack have won back to back defensive struggles after upending Wyoming 61-58. The boxscore was indicative of how close the contest was with Nevada sinking a few more baskets and little else. Deonte Burton paced the offense with 16 points with Cole Huff tossing in 15 points and posting six boards while AJ West and Michael Perez netted 12 and eleven points with West totaling 12 boards.

Following a close loss to top ranked Arizona, UNLV has been tearing things up with seven straight double figure victories. The good times finally came to an end in a 75-68 home defeat to Air Force who led by eight after 20 minutes and never let go. The Falcons were a blistering hot 51% from the floor which was decisive because it totaled three more field goals. Bryce Dejean-Jones was a one man wrecking crew for the Rebels with 28 points and six helpers on 10-16 from the field with Kevin Olekaibe adding 13 while Khem Birch and Deville Smith combined for 15 points with Birch ripping down nine rebounds.
UNLV has really been a good cover team and Nevada is a team that can do well or perform poorly without warning. I'll take the points but if the Wolf Pack don't play well they are road kill which makes this risky...
