The Toledo Rockets travel to Western Michigan to open MAC play with the Broncos.
After opening the 2013-14 campaign with 12 consecutive victories the Rockets finally tasted defeat with a 93-83 loss at Kansas. The high powered offense was simply out scored with Toledo shooting a competitive 46% although the Jathawks burned the nets with white hot 56% marksmanship and owned the backboards 40-26 with 18 giveaways. Nathan Booth paced the Toledo scoring with 15 points and five helpers with the duo of JD Weatherspoon and Justin Drummond tossing in 13 points each while Julius Brown and Rian Pearson combining for 19 points.

Western Michigan has been a little touch and go heading in to conference action with decent scoring and defense. The Broncos schedule set up perfectly heading in to MAC action with back to back decisions after an 83-47 rout of sub division Siena Heights which was nothing more then a practise session. WMU connected at 45% which was plenty good enough with the Saints limited to a mere 25% and committing 17 turnovers. Shayne Whittingham led the Western Michigan offense with 16 points followed by Hayden Hoerdemann and David Brown with 12 and ten points while Kellen McCormack and Jared Klein adding eight points each. Overall put 13 players on the floor and each found the scoring column.
Based on the non conference schedules of each team Toledo would be the choice but Western Michigan has generally won this game. Interesting but I think Toledo needs to step up here...
