The Qunnipiac Bobcats host the Manhattan Jaspers in an early season battle for first in the MAAC.
Manhattan might not be the cover machine they were a season ago but at 11-2 I'm pretty sure they could care less. The Jaspers have been riding their scoring to eight consecutive victories although both ends of the floor had a big hand in an 83-57 rout of conference foe Fairfield. A 15 point lead at the half grew behind 51% shooting with the defense limiting the Stags to 36.7% and forcing 18 turnovers. George Beamon tossed in a game high 19 points with Rich Williams adding 14 points while Shane Richards and Rhamel Brown netted 13 and 12 points.

Quinnipiac's first year in the MAAC has started off on the right foot at 3-1 which is currently good enough for second in the standings. The Bobcats best chance at winning is putting points on the scoreboard with their defense having a few holes. There were plenty of points to go around in an 86-74 decision over visiting Iona with a 26-18 edge at the charity stripe being the key number. Zaid Hearst paced four double digit scorers with 23 points and eleven rebounds with Ike Azotam connecting for 18 points and 15 boards while the combo of Umar Shannon and Kasim Chandler netted 12 points apiece. The top six players did the bulk of the damage with all but four points scored.
Both teams can put the ball in the basket so I thnk this one comes down to which gets a few stops. Manhattan should be accustomed to the MAAC wars...
