The UCLA Bruins and the Arizona Wildcats face off on Thursday at Pauley Pavilion on Thursday in a college basketball battle of Pac-12 heavyweights.
The UCLA Bruins are 12-2 for the season as they look for their first win over a top 25 team this season. UCLA is 0-2 against ranked teams and 9-0 at home thus far. Jordan Adams is averaging 18.5 points and 5.1 rebounds to lead the Bruins. Kyle Anderson is averaging 14.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists, Zach LaVine is averaging 12.2 points, and Norman Powell is averaging 11.2 points. UCLA is averaging 85.5 points and they are shooting 52.2 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 69.9 points and their opponents are shooting 40.9 percent. UCLA as big expectations this season and a win over the top ranked team would give that to them.

The Arizona Wildcats are undefeated and ranked number one in the nation. Arizona has blown through the 83rd ranked schedule in the nation including two wins over teams ranked in the top 25 and four games away from home. Nick Johnson is averaging 16 points to lead the Wildcats in scoring. Aaron Gordon is averaging 12.4 points and 8.0 rebounds, Brandon Ashley is averaging 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds, and Kaleb Tarczewski is averaging 9.9 points and 6.5 rebounds. Arizona is averaging 4.9 points and they are shooting 48.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 54.9 points and their opponents are shooting 36.6 percent. Arizona has won by blowout and has won in tight games making them battle tested.
UCLA is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight home games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five Pac-12 games, and 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning percentage higher than .600. Arizona is 5-0 against the spread following a game where they didn’t cover the spread, 12-3 against the spread following a win, and 4-1 against the spread in their last five games. The home team is 6-2 against the spread in the last eight meetings of these two.
Arizona has struggled traditionally in this spot but they are the better team this season and with this small number they are easily the play.
