The Duke Blue Devils travel to Clemson to play the Tigers on Saturday night.

Duke improved to 12-3 on the year after beating Georgia Tech 79-57 on Tuesday night. The Blue Devils shot 47.1% from the field and an impressive 45% from behind the arc. Duke reached the free-throw line 25 times and made 88% of their attempts. Rodney Hood scored 15 of his 27 points in the second half, while Quinn Cook added 13 points. Jabari Parker, who has been in a slump as of late, scored 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting for the Blue Devils. On the season, Parker leads the team with 19.8 points and 7.6 assists per game. Hood is averaging 18.5 points per game, while Cook averages a team-high 6.1 assists per game. The Blue Devils are averaging 84.3 points per game while shooting 49.4% from the field, both rank in the top 20 in the nation. The biggest weakness for Duke thus far is rebounding, where they only average 34.8 boards per game. This will be the Blue Devils second true road game of the year; Duke lost last weekend at Notre Dame by 2 points.

Clemson Tigers vs. Duke Blue Devils Pick-Odds-Prediction 1/11/14

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The Clemson Tigers dropped to 10-4 on the year after losing to Florida State 56-41 on Thursday night. Clemson shot only 30% from the field and 26.3% from long distance. K.J. McDaniels led the Tigers with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Rod Hall only had 5 points and 1 rebound for the Tigers in the loss. On the year, McDaniels averages 16.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, which are both team-highs. Hall averages 10.4 points and 3.9 assists per game for the Tigers. The Tigers are scoring only 66.6 points per game while shooting a decent 42.9% from the field. Clemson is now 3-3 in their last 6 games and the loss to Florida State was their first loss at home this season.

Duke has won the last five meetings with Clemson and I don’t think the outcome will be any different in this game. Clemson is so inconsistent right now it’s hard to say which team will show up on any given night. Meanwhile, Duke has had its problems defending people and rebounding, but I think they will be just fine in this one. Duke will get their first true road win of the season and should dominate the Tigers on Saturday.
