The Princeton Tigers take the hardwood with the Penn Quakers at The Palestra on Saturday.
Consistent scoring and defense has been the calling card of Princeton and the reason the team is off to an 11-2 start. The offense saved the day in an 80-74 decision at Liberty with 48% shooting and just four turnovers leading the way which was needed with the Flames connecting at 53% from the field. The Tigers key to victory was at the charity stripe where they held a seven point advantage. Princeton received 24 points and five yanks from TJ Bray with Ben Hazel tossing in another 18 points while Hans Brase netted 12 points and snagged six pulls.

I read in the preseason writeups that Penn shouldn't be ignored in the Ivy League which might turn out to be true but right now this won't happen without a boost in scoring and improved defense which is allowing 78 points. Nothing went as planned in a 76-57 defeat to La Salle that saddled the Quakers with a seven game slide. A 16 point deficit at the break was never challenged with 37.7% marksmanship and a 20-11 hole at the foul line doing too much damage. Tony Hicks paced the scoring with 16 points with Fran Dougherty netting 14 points and snagging nine rebounds. Production outside these two was hard to find with nine others combining for 27 points.
I don't think there are any safe picks in the Ivy League where anything can happen. I am simply going with the team that looks like one of the best in the conference although laying road chalk is scary in this league...
