The Syracuse Orange improved to 15-0 on the year after beating Virginia Tech on the road 72-52 on Tuesday night. Syracuse shot 46.7% from the field and 40.9% from behind the arc. Syracuse reaced the charity stripe 13 times and made 53.8% of their shots. The Orange 2-3 zone allowed Virginia Tech to shoot just 36.7% from the field and 29.2% from three-point range. C.J. Fair led Syracuse once again with 17 points, 12 after halftime. Jerami Grant added 12 points and 10 rebounds. On the year, Fair averages 17.2 points per game and 5.6 rebounds. Trevor Cooney averages 13.9 points per game, while Grant averages a team-high 6.1 rebounds per contest. The Orange average 74.1 points per game while shooting 46.7% from the field. Syracuse is a decent team when it comes to rebounding and distributing the ball on offense. The Orange are coming off their closest game at home against Miami last weekend, where they only won by 5 points.
North Carolina played awful in their last game and the main reason why is because they struggled against the zone defense. The Tar Heels will now face arguably the best zone defense in the country and I don’t think they will have much success. Meanwhile, Syracuse will be able to score with their playmakers and they will win this game comfortably.
