The Youngstown State Penguins play host to the Cleveland State Vikings in Sunday Horizon action.
Cleveland State might be one of the better teams in the Horizon based on their ability to score the basketball at 75 points per game. The Vikings threw a little defense in to the mix in a 73-63 decision over Detroit that upped their conference mark to 2-1. CSU led by ten at the break and never let the Titans make a run with 46% shooting and 14 forced turnovers leading to nine more looks against 39% shooting Detroit. Jon Harris led a trio of double digit scorers with 18 points and six rebounds while Anton Grady added 15 points and eight rebounds followed by a 14 point, five pull effort by Sebastian Douglas.

When you think of Youngstown State big time offense is the first thing that comes to mind with an average of nearly 80 ponts. If this team gets just a touch of defense the Horizon title might be their's for the taking as we saw in a 75-62 decision over Illinois-Chicago where red hot 58% from the field carried the day. The defense did play well with the Flames limited to 38% accuracy and 16 forced turnovers but make no mistake that scoring is what drives the Penguins. Mr. Do Everything Kendrick Perry pumped 23 points and handed out seven assists while recording five steals while Kamren Belin tossing in 15 points and snagging seven boards followed by Bobby Hain and DJ Cole with 12 points each.
Both teams can score and Youngstown State is solid at home but Cleveland State plays a little better at the defensive end which catches my attention...
