The Buffalo Bulls visit the Toledo Rockets in a key MAC hoops contest Wednesday at 7PM from Savage Hall.
Buffalo has won four games in a row and most recently defeated Eastern Michigan at home 76-66. The win moved the Bulls to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in MAC conference play. The two teams were knotted up at the half before the Bulls pulled away with a 46-36 second half run. The Bulls only shot the ball 32% for the game but made up for their pedestrian shooting night by hitting eight threes and racking up 22 team assists -- a season high. Jerryn Skeete had 19 off the bench to lead the Bulls scoring efforts and Javon McCree continued his strong post play with 11 and 10. The Bulls rank in the top 50 in team rebounding.

Toledo got back in the win column and snapped their two game losing streak to get to 13-2 for the season with an 86-71 win over Central Michigan. Guard Julius Brown led the way for Toledo, scoring 15 points and dishing out 12 assists. The Rockets controlled the game for most of the night and were able to stave off a late Central Michigan run. Six of the Rockets 9 players who saw action scored in double figures and Toledo shot the ball 57.1% from the field and were 22-28 at the free throw line. Toledo appears to be in a strong position to get a winning streak going as conference play heats up.
Buffalo should provide a tough test for the Rockets and I expect this to be one of their tougher matches in conference play. The Bulls should have the edge up front, but Toledo’s experience and scoring ability across their roster will be the difference as the Rockets pull away late for the double digit win at home.
