The Eastern Kentucky Colonels take on the Belmont Bruins at Alumni Coliseum on Thursday.
At 12-6 it seems foolish to say Belmont is not as strong as in previous years because their record is the envy of many teams. The Bruins improved to 4-0 in the OVC with a wire to wire 87-72 decision over Tennessee Tech with a 23 point lead at the break essentially ending this one. Belmont connected at 58% including 7-14 from distance while the defense allowed 34% from the floor which negated 22 more shots. Craig Bradshaw tossed in a game high 22 points while JJ Mann and Evan Bradds netted 18 and 17 points with Reece Chamberlain contributed 13 points.

Eastern Kentucky has been a scoring machine at over 78 points and tend to struggle when the points are difficult to come by. The points were flowing and the defense chipped in as well in a 76-65 decision over Morehead State that evened their league mark at 2-2. Both teams sank shots in the 44% range with EKY forcing 20 Eagles turnovers to log 13 more looks at the basket which was a decisive number. The Colenels received 19 points and six steals from Corey Walden with Glenn Cosey adding 18 points and five helpers followed by a 14 point effort from Orlando Williams.
I think Belmont is the better team and probably the logical pick but they are on the road for the third straight game so I'm leaning home team right now...
