The KFC Yum! Center and the Louisville Cardinals host the Houston Cougars in AAC action.
Houston is missing a key part in injured Danuel House yet have reasonably well as they have kicked off the AAC slate at 2-1. The Cougars gave conference power Cincinnati a huge scare in a 61-60 defeat where a spirited come back from a 16 first half deficit fell just short. UH connected at 41% from the floor with the defense holding the Bearcats to under 37%. Brandon Smith led a trio of double digit scorers with 17 points with the duo of Jherrod Stiggers and TaShawn Thomas combining for 21 points with Thomas hauling in nine rebounds.

Louisville can put the ball in the basket and defend like few other teams which is why they are a threat to win back to back National Championships. The Cardinals turned back a strong challenge from Southern Methodist 71-63 to up their record to 3-1 in the AAC. The Cardinals owned a 12 point lead heading in to the locker room before holding off a late Mustangs charge. The Cardinals hit at 47% to clearly out gun SMU who mustered just 37% from the floor but stayed close with 12 more attempts on the strength of 18 offensive rebounds. Luke Hancock and Russ Smith were a potent one, two punch with 23 points each with Montrezl Harrell adding 12 points and 13 boards.
