The Alabama-Birmingham Blazers play host to conference foe the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners.

Texas-San Antonio hasn't had much to cheer about thus far until conference play began and they opened with surprising wins against Marshall and Charlotte to begin 2-0. The much maligned defense is sill allowing points so they simply outscored the 49ers 85-77. With both squads connecting at just under 50% a few more baskets by the Roadrunners was crucial and a 17-33 mark at the stripe nearly cost them. UTSA received 17 points from Denzel Ingram followed by a 15 point, five yank effort by Terrence Williams while Willie Clayton and Pierria Henry tossed in 13 and 12 points with Henry posting seven pulls.

Beth Hall-USA TODAY Sports

I'm still on the fence on my thoughts about Alabama-Birmingham because the schedule hasn't been extremely tough so is their potent offense a factor of the schedule? We shall see soon enough with the conference slate getting hot and heavy. The Blazers opened CUSA action with an 89-85 overtime defeat at Middle Tennessee State as they came from behind late to tie only to fall flat in the extra session. UAB connected at a torrid 60% from the floor but gave the ball away 22 times to give the 52% shooting Blue Raiders 15 more attempts. Chad Frazier poured in a contest high 28 points with CJ Washington netting 15 points and snatching eight boards while Rod Rucker, Tosin Mehinti and Robert Williams chipped in with ten points each.

I think two weeks ago Alabama-Birmingham wouls be the pick but the Roadrunners have looked good to kick off conference play. I think this is complete rout if UTSA doesn't at least show up and could be if they do...
