The Duke Blue Devils improved to 13-4 on the year after beating Virginia at home 69-65 on Monday night. Duke shot 44.9% from the field and 45.5% from behind the arc in the win. The Blue Devils reached the charity stripe 20 times and made 75% of their attempts. Rasheed Sulaimon had a team and season-high 21 points, while Rodney Hood added 14 points. Amile Jefferson had a team-high 15 rebounds and 2 steals for the Blue Devils. On the year, Jabari Parker leads the Blue Devils with 18.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, despite his struggles as of late. Hood is averaging a close second with 18.4 points per game, while Quinn Cook averages a team-high 5.9 assists. As a team, the Blue Devils are shooting a solid 48.2% from the field and are averaging 81.9 points per game. Duke’s biggest weakness is rebounding where they only average 34.3 boards per game. Duke bounced back at home against Virginia after losing two out of three games. The Blue Devils are undefeated at home this season.
Duke won the last meeting between these two teams at home in high scoring contest by 13 points last season. I think this game will be high scoring as well and Duke will have their hands full against a Wolfpack team that can score often. The Wolfpack will have the edge on the glass and in the front court, but the Blue Devils guard play will prove to be too much in the end. I can’t trust Duke enough right now to back them because they are just too inconsistent, so I’m going to side with the Wolfpack in what should be a close game.
